St. Pete Times Forum to Hold Recycling Drive this Thursday in Honor of Earth Day 2010
TAMPA BAY – The St. Pete Times Forum will join more than one billion people in 190 countries for the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day 2010 this Thursday, April 22. Earth Day is a pivotal opportunity for individuals, corporations and governments to join together and create a global green economy.
The St. Pete Times Forum will hold a recycling drive in honor of Earth Day on the West Plaza from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. All participants who bring a phonebook to the plaza during this time on Thursday will receive the following:
Recyclers are encouraged to arrive early, as the first 300 participants will receive two vouchers to the opening night of Disney On Ice presents Let’s Celebrate! on May 20 at 7:00 p.m.
The St. Pete Times Forum is dedicated to the sustainability of the environment of the Tampa Bay area through its green initiatives. The Tampa Bay Lightning won the Clean Air Partnership Award for Commuter Incentive and the Business Bike Challenge for encouraging the most employees to bike to work. On March 28, 2009, the team participated, along with hundreds of millions people worldwide, in Earth Hour, switching off its lights in a vote for Earth over global warming. Recently, the entire organization participated in the Mayor’s Beautification Campaign by cleaning the banks of the Hillsborough River along both the Cotanchobee and USF parks. The Lightning have adopted the parks and will keep them clean year-round.
