Asian-American Coalition of Florida (AACF) Announces Asia Fest 2010 in Celebration of National Asian Pacific Heritage Month

 Annual Celebration to be held this Saturday, May 1 at 11:00 a.m.

TAMPA BAY – The Asian-American Coalition of Florida (AACF) is proud to announce the 27th annual Asia Fest event this Saturday, May 1 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Pete Times Forum. Asia Fest is an annual celebration of "National Asian Pacific American Heritage Month" which has been held in downtown Tampa since 1982.
 
The event is free to the public and supported by sponsors. Asia Fest presents a colorful, festive celebration that features cultural entertainment and Asian ethnic food representing Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Several key local Asian Pacific restaurants will serve as food vendors.
 
The event welcomes Consulates Generals from various Asian nations, City and County officials, and other Bay Area VIP’s. The opening ceremony is scheduled to commence at 11:00 a.m. with opening remarks to be made by Founding Chair, Dr. Kimi Springsteen. In past years, Asia Fest was honored to have the presence of the MacDillAir Force Base Honor Guard, accompanied by Tampa’s own songstress, Ann Poonkasem, performing the National Anthem.
 
Asia Fest is held annually during the same day and time as the International Dragonboat Race. Attendance to the event is well over 10,000. Sponsorship and vendor opportunities are available. For additional information, please visit .
