NewsASIA FEST 2009 returns to the St. Pete Times Forum with exhibits and entertainment - Free to the public Come celebrate the sights, sounds and tastes of the Far East at Hillsborough County’s 26th annual Asia Fest 2009 this Saturday, May 2 at the St. Pete Times Forum. The fun starts at 10:30 a.m. on the Chrysler-Jeep Plaza. The entire day is free to the public. Festival goers can enjoy a variety of exhibits and entertainment featuring cultural performances, a fashion show with native costumes, martial arts demonstrations and authentic Asian cuisine from Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. The annual Tampa Bay International Dragon Boat races get underway earlier in the day with opening ceremonies at 8:30 a.m., as 70 teams from local corporate and community groups, as well as paddlers from across the U.S. and Canada, will compete. The goal of Asia Fest is to share Asian culture with the public and promote a better understanding between the East and the West.
