TAMPA BAY - Metallica has been touring to sold out crowds across the U.S. and the World since the release of last year’s Death Magnetic album.
Since the band’s inception, Metallica has evolved into one of the greatest metal bands ever, a household name, and the seventh-biggest selling act in American history. Earlier this year they received their eighth Grammy Award (for Best Metal Performance for Death Magnetic’s “My Apocalypse”), and saw the release of the Metallica Guitar Hero game as well as the release of The Complete Metallica, a discography box set, featuring 163 tracks.
Fans attending the World Magnetic tour will experience a collection of music that includes classic Metallica as well as tracks from the Death Magnetic album which has been available on Guitar Hero since the 2008 release. Within the first three days of the release of Death Magnetic, it debuted at Number One on the Billboard 200 and had sold 490,000 copies.
Reviewer of Back to Rockville at The Kansas City Star reported, “This show was all about gargantuan noise, the thunder and tumult and precise, high-ballastic sound of what has to be the world’s premier heavy-rock band…I know it’s early in the tour, but his voice didn’t lose a decibel all night, even after two hours of screaming. He spent the entire show trotting one microphone to the next, circling the enormous stage, which looked as industrial and Spartan as the landing strip on an aircraft carrier.”
Opening acts for the legendary rock band’s concert at the St. Pete Times Forum on October 3 will be Grammy-nominated rockers Lamb of God and French heavy metal band Gojira.
