St. Pete Times Forum Performers Taylor Swift and The Black Eyed Peas win numerous Grammy Awards

Artists will Appear in Concert at the St. Pete Times Forum

 

TAMPA BAY- Taylor Swift and The Black Eyed Peas were recognized for a year of excellence at the 52nd Annual GRAMMY® Awards on January 31, 2010, winning an astonishing seven awards overall. Taylor Swift took home the night’s top honor, Album of the Year, as well as three other awards. The Black Eyed Peas walked away with three trophies, including Best Pop Vocal Album for “The E.N.D.” Both artists will be performing at the St. Pete Times Forum in 2010. The Black Eyed Peas take the stage on February 10 at 7:30 p.m. and Taylor Swift’s sold out concert arrives on March 4 at 7:00 p.m.

 

At age 20, Taylor is the youngest artist in history to win the music industry’s coveted top prize. She is also the first solo female country winner ever of the award and the first solo female country winner in more than a decade. Taylor also won the Grammy for Best Country Album for “Fearless,” and took home trophies for Best Country Song and Best Country Vocal Performance for her hit “White Horse.”

 

Taylor’s Fearless album has proved to be a favorite with fans, critics and industry voters, selling more than 5 million CDs, receiving massive critical acclaim, and sweeping the awards categories this season. In addition to winning Grammy Awards for Album of the Year and Best Country Album, the project was lauded as Album of the Year by the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music, and was named Favorite Country Album at the American Music Awards.

 

The Black Eyed Peas can now add four-time Grammy Award winning recording artist to their impressive resume of industry awards and accolades. The group received three Grammy Awards, including Best Pop Vocal Album – “The E.N.D.,” Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals – “I Gotta Feeling,” and Best Short Form Music Video – “Boom Boom Pow.”

 

The E.N.D., The Black Eyed Peas’ fifth studio album, is also their first original album since Monkey Business (released May 2005), certified RIAA triple platinum in the U.S., with worldwide sales of more than 9 million copies.  The Peas’ first Grammy Award came six years ago, for “Let’s Get It Started,” from their breakthrough album of 2003, Elephunk, which introduced Fergie into the lineup, and turned the group into international superstars with cumulative 25-times platinum sales in nearly a dozen countries around the world. To date, The Black Eyed Peas have sold over 27 million combined units worldwide, and have logged over 300 headline tour dates in 29 countries with over 2.2 million tickets sold.

Taylor’s good friend, American Idol finalist Kellie Pickler, again joins Taylor as a featured artist on all of the North American FEARLESS dates, and top selling new artist of 2009 Gloriana returns to open all of the shows.

The Black Eyed Peas recently announced that Ludacris will be joining opening act LMFAO on their highly anticipated world tour. Ludacris has sold over 20 million albums worldwide with each release being certified platinum or multi-platinum by the RIAA. His upcoming album, Battle of The Sexes, is set to be released March 16, 2010.
