Comic Jeff Dunham continues to prove himself at the top of many realms as he was presented with a triple platinum award for his DVD sales of over 75,000 by Sony Music South Africa.  According to Nigel King, DVD Product Manager at Sony Music South Africa, this award means that Jeff has become the “top-selling international comedian on DVD in retail in South Africa.”  The award was given to Dunham in the midst of his debut tour of South Africa, where he performed to eight sold out arenas for more than 30,000 people. Dunham will bring his new 2011 “Identity Crisis Tour” to the St. Pete Times Forum on Thursday, February 24 at 7:30 p.m.

Dunham is already a DVD phenomenon who has sold six million copies of his four titles in America. His releases of “Spark of Insanity” and the holiday special in Canada, Great Britain, the Benelux countries, South Africa, Scandinavia and Australia have sold in excess of 200,000 copies, and his ringtones have racked up more than 300,000 in international sales. The holiday special went to #1 on the Danish Entertainment Chart when it was released, while “Spark” hit #2 on the Dutch DVD charts and #5 on South African DVD charts — scoring against all DVD releases, including best-selling movies. When “Spark” and the Christmas DVD were released in the U.K. they were the only titles by an American in the nation’s comedy Top 20.

The comedian and his crew of characters were the top-grossing international touring live comedy act in 2009, and Dunham is also the best-selling live comedian in North America for two years in a row. Forbes magazine recently featured him as the #1 Top-Earning Comedian in the publication’s listing of America’s leading stand-up comics, and earlier this year it named him to its Celebrity 100 roster of most powerful entertainers for the second year. On his return from South Africa, Dunham resumes his Identity Crisis tour, which continues to play venues seating 7,000 to 10,000 people some four nights a week.

On Nov. 2, Dutton publishes Dunham’s unique autobiography, All By My Selves: Walter, Peanut, Achmed, and Me, with an audio book he narrates hitting stores the same day via Image Entertainment. The book details Dunham’s rise to the top of the comedy game in his own words from his humble beginnings as a child entertainer in Dallas, Texas, with additional commentary from his hilarious suitcase posse of sidekicks.
