Mixed martial arts (MMA) is an evolving combat art in which competitors use integrated forms of fighting that includes jiu-jitsu, judo, karate, boxing, Taekwondo, wrestling and others to overcome their opponent in a sanctioned and supervised match. Competitors are allowed to use all martial arts techniques to end the fight within the limits of the Mainstream MMA rules.

Since the St. Pete Times Forum hosted its first XFC mixed martial arts fight card in November 2007, the XFC has done multiple events with 8-10 thousand fans in attendance!

Each fighter is assigned to compete in their appropriate weight class. The different weight classes are Bantamweight (under 135 lbs.), Featherweight (136 lbs. to 145 lbs.), Lightweight (146 lbs. to 155 lbs.), Welterweight (156 lbs. to 170 lbs.), Middleweight (171 lbs. to 185 lbs.), Light Heavyweight (186 lbs. to 205 lbs.), and Heavyweight (205 lbs. to 265 lbs.).
