St. Pete Times Forum Ranks in Top Five North American Venues

TAMPA BAY- Two of the concert industry’s leading publications, Pollstar Magazine and Venues Today, have released reports ranking the world’s top venues, and the St. Pete Times Forum has made the cut.

Venues Today, the international monthly of facilities and entertainment, released a report this week ranking venues based upon total concert and event grosses from October 16, 2008 – May 15, 2009. The study ranked all venues in the world, with a capacity greater than 15,001, by total gross amount for concert events and family shows. The St. Pete Times Forum ranked third in the United States and sixth in the world.

Pollstar Magazine, the international newsweekly of the music industry, also released report this week based on tickets sold worldwide for the period between 1/1/09 – 6/30/09. The study ranked the top 100 venues in the world by actual ticket sales for concert events and family shows. The St. Pete Times Forum ranked fifth in the United States.

During the first half of 2009, the St. Pete Times Forum hosted a variety of entertainment acts including Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey, Celine Dion, Dane Cook, Britney Spears, Cirque du Soleil, and Jeff Dunham.

The remainder of 2009 looks just as promising with a line-up of world-class events including American Idols Live! Tour 2009, Green Day, Jonas Brothers, Sugarland, Metallica, and Miley Cyrus scheduled to perform. Over the next few weeks, there will be more exciting announcements to be made for the remainder of the year’s show lineup.
